Population:
105,000; 105 miles (170 kilometres) west of London (2 hours by rail,
2½ hours by coach). Gloucester is an ancient city with a magnificent
medieval cathedral and cloister, as well as being a lively modern
town. The historic docks have been impressively restored to include
various museums, shops and cafes.
