INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAMMES has many years of experience in designing CLIL courses on behalf of European Ministries of Education, In-service Teacher Training Institutes and schools. These courses are for primary teachers or for secondary teachers who teach or are going to teach subjects such as Science, Maths, History, Geography or Music in English,

ISP's team of teacher trainers includes experts in CLIL, such as Dr Diana Hicks.

2 WEEK CLIL COURSE FOR PRE-PRIMARY TEACHERS (Ages 3-7)

This course focuses on essential strategies which can help very young learners to deal with content and language at the same time. It provides many practical ideas for classroom activities and ready-made materials on topics such as The Five Senses, Playing with Art, Animals and School Routines.

2 WEEK CLIL COURSES FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS

These courses focus on CLIL Methodology and Materials. They provide primary teachers with many practical ideas for classroom activities, experience in planning CLIL lessons and ready-made materials on a variety of topics such as Art, Food, Teeth, Healthy Living, Animals and their habitats, Plants through the seasons, Water & Weather, The Solar System, Dinosaurs, Houses of the World.

1 & 2 WEEK CLIL COURSES FOR TEACHERS WHO TEACH THEIR SUBJECT(S) "BILINGUALLY" IN ENGLISH AT SECONDARY LEVEL :

SCIENCE, MATHS & TECHNICAL SUBJECTS or

HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY & OTHER HUMANITIES & ARTS SUBJECTS such as Social Studies, Religious Studies, Music, Economics etc. and VOCATIONAL SUBJECTS such as Tourism, Business Studies & Secretarial Studies

These courses focus on CLIL Methodology, with practical workshops providing teachers with the opportunity:

  • to consider CLIL methodology and to acquire expertise and fresh ideas for teaching their subject in English.
  • to acquire ready-made teaching materials and to evaluate, adapt and create materials for teaching their subject in English
  • to refresh their knowledge of the language required to teach their subject(s) in English, through attending lectures and visits relating to their subject(s), and observing lessons in their subject(s) at local schools.

Courses marked (L) are one day longer than other 2 week courses and include 2 or 3 days of ENGLISH LANGUAGE TUITION for teachers who need to improve their general English skills (see programmes).

COURSES FOR TEACHERS OF SCIENCE, GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY, MUSIC & OTHER SUBJECTS

These one-week courses are designed for all teachers of these subjects who have a working knowledge of English. (They are not CLIL courses, but would be interesting for CLIL teachers who have already attended a CLIL course.)

The 'English for Educators' course is designed for teachers who wish to improve their English language skills in order to communicate with schools and colleagues in other European countries.
