COURSES IN BRITAIN FOR SECONDARY TEACHERS OF ENGLISH

INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAMMES organises a variety of courses for overseas teachers of English at secondary level and specialises in designing courses to meet the training requirements of all types of groups, ranging from teacher trainers to trainee teachers or teachers with a special interest, such as English literature or motivating slow learners.

Teachers of English in Adult Education may apply for any of the courses for Teachers of English at secondary level. Visits to Adult Education Colleges will be arranged (in place of school visits) on all courses taking place during college term-time.

Course programmes include all or most of the following elements:

  • Teaching English as a Foreign Language methodology: practical workshops covering a wide range of approaches to English language teaching with emphasis on motivating pupils through a variety of activities which engage their imaginations and creativity. Participants will come away with a wealth of new teaching ideas and materials for use in the EFL classroom.
  • Advanced level English language tuition, including advanced communicative exercises and new developments in the English language.
  • Workshops on Aspects of Life in Modern Britain.
  • The English Education System: a lecture on recent developments and an opportunity to visit secondary schools, observe lessons and meet teachers.
  • Excursions such as Chester or Winchester.
  • Shakespeare's Theatre with a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon.
