English Holiday Language Courses

ENGLISH HOLIDAY LANGUAGE COURSES

A visit to Britain gives students the opportunity to practise English in real-life situations and thus gain more confidence in speaking the language, as well as to learn more about Britain and make new friends.

Make new Freinds!

INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAMMES places emphasis on both learning and having fun. Our courses offer an integrated programme of English lessons, excursions and recreational activities under the guidance of English teachers, who ensure that students continue to practise their English during the fun activities outside the classroom.

Tuition

English tuition takes place on 4 or 5 mornings a week between 0900 and 1230 hours. Participants are divided into small classes according to age and ability. The aim is not only to improve language ability but also to give students a deeper understanding of British life.

Our teachers are all native speakers of English who have been carefully selected for their qualifications and experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language as well as their lively and caring personalities.

Emphasis in the lessons is on active student participation in a variety of practical language activities.

Each tuition session focuses upon a theme relevant to the students' stay in Britain, for example: British Food and Shopping, Family Life, The Media, etc. Different aspects of each theme are explored through activities such as role play, pair work, discussions, study of texts, language teaching games etc.

Colourful and stimulating course books are used, with plenty of (mainly oral) exercises to practise grammatical structures, pronunciation and intonation, learn new vocabulary, etc.

The weekly programme also includes a 3 hour project session, during which students conduct interviews with local people on topics of their own choice.

Excursions and Activities

Excursions are made to some of Britain's most famous cities and sights - London, Oxford or Cambridge, Stratford-upon-Avon, the coast, etc.

The varied programme of afternoon visits and activities and evening events includes a choice of sports, student discos, etc., with opportunities to meet/play sport with local young people.

English plus sport

Afternoon or weekend training in a sport such as tennis or golf is available in certain centres. Excellent opportunities are offered for horse riding, ranging from pony trekking on Dartmoor and lessons for beginners to advanced training in show-jumping, cross-country or dressage.

Family Accommodation

Students are accommodated with carefully selected local families who give a warm welcome and involve their guests in family life.

Picture of Family Life

Each student is guaranteed to be the only person of his or her nationality / mother tongue in the family. Students will thus have an excellent opportunity of practising English and of learning at first hand about the British way of life. (Two friends may request to stay together if they wish).

In each of our 20 centres an experienced local organiser is on hand to ensure that every student is happy in his or her host family.

Please see descriptions of Centres and Map.

Residential Accommodation

Courses based at British boarding schools or university campuses offer single, twin or small dormitory accommodation, according to the age and requests of the students

On-site facilities include indoor swimming pools and a range of sports facilities.
